Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour a baking pan.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the sugar and butter until smooth. Beat in the egg and molasses, mix well.
  4. In a bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt until well blended. Add the dry mixture to creamed mixture in small increments and blend on low speed.
  5. Lastly, add the water and bacon bits. Transfer to baking pan.
  6. Bake 45-50 minutes in the oven, until toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool and top with your favorite icing and more bacon bits!
